Ok that sounded a little harsh but the truth is that taking a walk is a
great way to exercise. It can also save you money that you would spend on a
health club. Joining a gym is easy it is actually going there that causes
the problem.
Nothing against gyms they are a great thing if you have one close to your
house or work. If you have someone to go there with is great too as you can
egg each other on. The cheap way to exercise is by just talking a walk.
You should consult your doctor before doing any exercising. You are probably
due for a physical anyway. Here are some tips that can help you get walking
safely.
First thing you need is a good and comfortable pair of walking shoes or
sneakers. If you are going to exercise you may as well be as comfortable as
you can be. Hard concrete pavements can hurt the joints in he knees or

You need to carry water with you as you don't want to dehydrate from all
this new found exercise plus its good to flush out your system.
Before you go walking you should stretch. If you have read anything on this
weight loss website you know I always harping on stretching first. It helps
prepare the muscles for exercise and prevents injuries also. The first thing
a cat does when it wakes up is stretch, we should all take his hint.
You should find someone that is also interested in losing some weight or
keeping in shape. In my neighborhood there are two women that walk around
town early in the morning and shoot the breeze while looking at peoples
flowers and gardens. They walk in the early morning because the sun isn't
out in full force yet and it is still cool outside. That is another tip that
is very important because you never want to walk when the sun is making
everything hot. Walking in the morning or the evening is a good way to
prevent heatstroke.
You also need to wear bright color clothes so that cars and others can see
you since you will be walking during bad lighting conditions. If you wear
dark colors it makes it hotter too and we don't need that.
